Windows Phone 7 Handset Deals Arriving Today

October 21st, 2010 by Best Mobile Contracts

The official launch event for the full reboot of Microsoft’s mobile platform was only 11 days ago and fans and critics alike were impressed by the great leaps forward Microsoft had managed. Gone were the clumsy implementation and tiny buttons demanding the use of a stylus for any given task. In place, Microsoft had created a smooth and stylish user interface with a wealth of integrated features and the all-important support for big and inaccurate thumbs and fingers.

More exciting than the OS itself for some was the announcement that it would launch in the UK with 6 handsets from the top players in the mobile industry. Today marks the official release of Windows Phone 7 and 5 of those handsets.

HTC weren’t content with just one WP7 handset and have released 3. Probably first and foremost is the HTC HD7, which comes with a huge 4.3 inch screen. A screen that large on a smartphone really lends itself to watching videos and other media and HTC have made this all the easier with the inclusion of an innovative kickstand on the back of the device. The other HTC devices are the HTC 7 Trophy and the HTC 7 Mozart, with 3.8 and 3.7 inch screens, respectively.

Samsung’s offering is the Samsung Omnia 7. This handset has a 4 inch screen that employs the same highly praised super-AMOLED technology used in the Galaxy S and the Wave. This means the Omnia 7 will have a bright, crystal clear display that might well put it at the top of the WP7 crowd for some. Other noteworthy features of the Omnia 7 are its 1GHz Qualcomm processor and 5 megapixel camera.

Finally, LG are joining the release day fun with their LG Optimus 7 handset. The Optimus 7 has similar specifications to the Omnia 7, but with a slightly smaller screen at 3.8 inches and a few interesting LG specific software features on top of the WP7 OS. A second version entitled the Optimus 7Q is expected to be released soon and will be equipped with a slide out QWERTY keyboard.
