We will be skipping past Eric Schmidt’s announcement –we all know the details already. And there are plenty of data already out there. But passing up on more mobile goodness would certainly be a waste, so here’s a quick recap of all the smart phone related news that the launch of the Nexus S managed to overshadow.
First up, Toshiba’s Android tablet Folio will no longer be sold under Dixons –at least, temporarily. The retailer has just made the announcement regarding the touch tablet that uses the Android OS and a 10.1 inch capacitive touch screen display. This is due to a series of what is being called as ‘high return rates’. So far, no details on the specific issues of the device have been given.
LG has announced that it will be launching a new Android smart phone, rumoured to be called the LG Optimus Star. So far, there are little details on what this device will be about, but we do know that users will be able to try out the new dual core NVIDIA Tegra 2.
Speaking of LG, the company has also announced that the Optimus One Android smart phone has finally reached the 1 million mark in sales –in forty days. Not quite the same number as an Apple handset would work with, but still a very impressive mark indeed.
The HTC Legend will be getting an update to the Android 2.2 OS. This little announcement has just been made known just a day or two ago. With this announcement, there is hope for HTC Wildfire owners that the update will certainly push through for their handsets as well.
On a final note, Windows Phone 7 owners are very disappointed to realize that the custom format of the micro SD card in their devices makes the card unreadable in other devices. This also means that bringing around multiple SD cards is no longer applicable.
