Google has a pretty good history with many mobile phone manufacturers. HTC has been a long time partner for the developer, with the HTC Dream starting off the Android series and the Nexus One being manufactured by the Taiwan based company. Motorola, LG, Sony Ericsson and many other phone makers also have a degree of history with the Android operating system as well.
But as of late, it is the Samsung Galaxy series that is really putting the Android mobile platform in the spotlight. There is little doubt that the Galaxy S was under-exposed when it launched. The impressive smart phone not only managed to surpass all of its Android competitors, but has shown even the iPhone fans that there is an Android device that can match the latest Apple handset evenly.
This is why it is actually exciting to hear the rumors that Samsung is working on what is supposedly the “Nexus S”, the first Samsung made Google phone. Following the trend of the previous nexus handset, the basic idea is that the Google device will be based on an existing phone from the manufacturer. While the first Nexus phone was based on the HTC Desire (formerly Bravo), the Nexus S is based on Samsung’s i9000 Galaxy S.
With that, users can expect to see a 1GHz CPU, more than enough speed to handle even the most resource hogging applications. The phone is also loaded with a 5 mega pixel camera with HD video recording. The 4 inch super AMOLED touch screen display provides users with a visual experience that can easily match Apple’s retina display technology.
Overall, this is one good rumor that we are hoping to be true. While neither Samsung nor Google has confirmed the authenticity of any of the recently leaked photos and live images of the device, initial analysis do prove that Samsung definitely has a new piece of hardware in the works.
