It seems that the once-exclusive HTC Aria has been proving hard to bring over to the UK. The device, originally launched in the US as an exclusive device for one of their carriers with plenty of success; the smart phone packed an impressive hardware spec sheet that included a 3.2 inch TFT capacitive touch screen, a 5 mega pixel camera, the Android operating system, GPS, Bluetooth and more.
Naturally, many felt that it was going to launch in the UK as well –under a new name of course, and an announcement several weeks ago confirmed exactly that. However, it seems that not all is well with the actual process of bringing the device over this month. The plan was that HTC would launch the Aria under a new name, the HTC Gratia this November 2010. A quick change of plans has altered the November date to a vague “soon”.
Still, this is no cause for alarm. Anyone hoping to nab this well rounded mid-range Android handset will simply have to wait a while until HTC is able to sort everything out.
In other HTC related reports, it seems that the antenna location of the HTC HD7 Windows Phone 7 handset has been placed in a bad location. If this sounds familiar, this is because the much hyped iPhone 4 also suffers from the same issue (which has never been fixed at all). While the location of the HD7 antenna is not as bad –the iPhone 4 had it at the side of the device, the fact that the exposed portion of the HD7 antenna is on the bottom of the handset is still a problem for some users.
At the very least, the problem is not bad enough to warrant a full scale solution, but at the very least, users should be forewarned about the design issue before purchase.
