HTC has confirmed that the HTC Sense online service will be made available for Desire smart phone owners. This allows users to make use of the cloud service in order to store and backup important web data, access important files at any time and also, serve as a remote access station in the event that the handset is lost. Remote access allows HTC Desire owners to lock, ping and even wipe the memory on their Desire handsets if the situation requires.
A New HTC phone has also been spotted as well. The HTC Merge is going to feature an 800MHz CPU, a 5mega pixel camera and of course, the Android operating system. This phone stands out for its impressive slider keyboard, though it is not confirmed if the handset will indeed be launched in the UK.
Motorola on the other hand, has confirmed that the SIM-free version of the Motorola Milestone 2 will finally be out in the UK. This Android touch screen handset will be packing in the same old QWERTY keyboard that made the original Milestone so successful.
O2 UK and T-Mobile have both confirmed that XPERIA X10 users can now look forward to a major update to their handsets: the Android 2.1 Éclair update is coming. The launch is expected to happen sometime next week, though no specific date has been given as to when X10 owners should start readying their devices.
Lastly, Apple has confirmed that the iAds system will be implemented in the UK. LG Display, AB InBev, L’Oréal, Renault, Citi, Evian, Louis Vuitton, Nespresso, Perrier, Unilever, Turkish Airlines and Absolute Radio are all going to be part of iAds and many more companies are expected to jump into the bandwagon. For developers, the presence of iAds also promises greater profits and being able to focus more on developing great games as opposed to creating games that are simply designed to sell.
