If you already own a Windows Phone 7 Optimus handset from LG (which is basically the Optimus 7) then you can expect to get a free app from the Korean phone maker and Microsoft.
The tie up between the two companies will certainly be providing some value added content to the WP7 smart phone though the specific apps has not been detailed. Aside from more free content, LG also has some other exclusive deals as well, such as budget app bundles for a lower cost and of course, exclusive content. The Optimus 7 was released last month as part of the big Windows Phone 7 launch. While there is little fuss over the handset itself, it has received pretty great reviews.
In the meanwhile, Facebook is heavily competing with Foursquare for locations based services. The newly launched Facebook places provides mobile phone users with GPS access to take part in what seems to be a converted Foursquare application made for Facebook.
The new Facebook Places app provides the social networking site with a whole new angle on interactivity (as well as providing potential stalkers with a quick view of where you are and where you have been), and more importantly, it is designed to take back that market share that Foursquare is slowly gaining.
It has just been recently added to the Android version of the Facebook app which means that those with smart phones using Google’s open source mobile platforms will also be able to update their social network account with details on their current locations and previous destinations.
Lastly, a pure black Sony Ericsson XPERIA X8 has just been spotted. The new device has just popped up in a couple of images and a video. Officially, no launch date has been given, though most suspect that a holiday launch (along with an Android 2.2 Froyo infusion) is most likely in the works.
