If you want an Android smartphone with all the media features you’d expect, without the high price, you may want to take a look at the Huawei Ideos handset.
Revealed back in September, Huawei Ideos deals have finally come to the UK. You can buy this phone on a SIM-free basis for just £149.99 from the online retailer Expansys. And it’s in stock now so you should be able to place your mobile phone order in time for Christmas.
This neat little Android runs on Google’s Froyo platform and so has support for Adobe Flash 10.1. Social networking is integrated on the device so you can communicate with friends on sites like Facebook and Twitter, and Wi-Fi connectivity is supported for browsing. There is a media player onboard, extra memory space up to 32GB available via a microSD card, a 3.2-megapixel camera, GPS technology together with Google Maps, and Bluetooth.
With a 2.8 inch capacitive screen, using the Huawei Ideos is straightforward. For messaging, the phone uses Swype technology which is faster than normal typing once you get the hang of it – if you’re not familiar with Swype, you simply move your finger through the letters you need to create words instead of tapping them individually.
We think the Ideos is a good choice for an affordable Android. Do you agree? You can share your thoughts on this mobile over in our Huawei Ideos customer reviews area.
Alternative Android-based entry-level phones include the LG Optimus One and Orange San Francisco. LG’s smartphone recently reached the one million unit sales mark – its combination of 3.2 inch capacitive display, social networking integration, 600MHz processor and multimedia features are proving popular, clearly. Orange’s Android is sold with the Android 2.1 operating system, a 3.5 inch display, and an incredible SIM-free price tag of under £85.
