Dell currently has the record holding smart phone when it comes to touch screen display screen size: a whopping 5 inches of pure capacitive goodness. But that is not all that the Dell Streak has to offer; the impressive Android smart phone has a great balance of features and hardware that makes it a great handset to have –and now, it just got better.

According to Dell and Google, the Android 2.2 Froyo update will be up and ready for all Dell Streak users by the end of this week. No specific day has been given, but just waiting for a couple or so more days is certainly not going to hurt. Since the Streak originally came out with only the 1.6 Donut, this jump straight to Froyo will certainly be appreciated by many (the device skips the 2.0/2.1 Éclair version of the OS).

Considering that Sony Ericsson’s XPERIA X10 was also launched with the 1.6 Donut and still had to go through a 2.1 update, the skip is a very crucial bit of advantage. Until now, the XPERIA X10’s 2.2 update is still in an unconfirmed status –it seems that the Streak has managed to avoid this version trapping situation.

Of course, version 2.3 Gingerbread is just around the corner too, but considering how long a time it takes before the new version becomes a standard means that the Streak has plenty of time.

South Koreans are going to get to try out the NVIDIA Tegra 2 powered LG Star a little earlier than the rest of the world thanks to the Korean launch of the handset. In their native country, the Star has been named as the Optimus 2X and sports the new dual core processor in order to match rival Samsung’s Hummingbird CPU. So far, no official launch date on the LG Star’s international release has been given.
