Well of course the Taiwanese phone manufacturer will be churning out new units this coming 2011, but the question is, what direction is the company heading? HTC has been in the limelight during these past couple of years, mostly thanks to the growth and success of the Android mobile platform (which HTC has been supporting fully all throughout). Now, with the recent launch of the Windows Phone 7 mobile platform, the phone maker even has more to offer.

First off, the once leaked HTC Scorpion has finally resurged in the news. Originally, the device was said to be a high end piece of hardware and looking at what we have now, that has not changed. The leak comes straight from game developer Gameloft, as the device is listed in the compatibility list. The Scorpion will be packing some serious firepower: the CPU is going to be running at a 1.5GHz –the first phone to be confirmed with that much speed.

Considering the growing number of uses that a typical smart phone now serves, the extra performance will certainly help; the only question now is whether the battery can actually keep up with the device’s needs. The handset will also be running the Android 2.2 Froyo OS.

HTC CEO Peter Chou has also been focusing plenty on the tablet industry. In fact, he stated that consumers should have the option to choose what kinds of tablet they need and want, and as such, he is hinting that the variety of tablet that HTC will be offering will provide users with a choice in the screen size, internal storage capacity and of course, the operating system to be used.

The man is also looking forward to the advent of 4G technology so it would not be surprising to see some LTE hardware equipped in most of HTC’s new phones.
