Carphone Warehouse has announced that they will be offering Nokia’s C6-01 mobile handset both on contract and pay as you go. This Nokia made, Symbian smart phone is a great handset to have if you need a quick and simple device that handles media, browsing and also has access to the Nokia Ovi Store.
The only catch is the device’s slightly slow processor, so expect that some of the larger apps would suffer from slowdown issues. For media however, the C6-01 is a great handset. It even comes with an 8 mega pixel camera so users will be able to take high quality images and photos instantly for upload and of course, sharing on social networking sites.
Speaking of Nokia, the Finnish mobile phone maker has not been talking about the MeeGo platform as of late. While we were a bit worried that the development of the OS has been put on indefinite hold, a quick surprise has shown the complete opposite. MeeGo is all set and waiting to go, and it even has two devices ready for it: a smart phone and a touch screen tablet. So far, no details about the tablet have been revealed, but the smart phone reportedly packs an Intel Atom CPU.
Lastly, Research in Motion is happy with the QNX system that they have acquired for the BlackBerry Playbook. While it is unlikely that they will switch over to QNX from the original BB OS, it has been hinted that some use interface changes (or quite possibly, an overhaul) will be coming soon. After the stock value for BlackBerry has risen after the acquisition of QNX, this move is not all that surprising. Even with the relative praise and success of the BlackBerry OS, there is always room for improvement, and RIM is intent on moving in.
