New Bada is Coming; Android Update is Set to Go

December 21st, 2010 by Best Mobile Contracts

2011 is dawning upon us in a couple of weeks and there is still plenty of last minute news that is going to make us excited for the coming year.

Samsung has confirmed that their proprietary operating system, the Bada is finally getting a massive overhaul. The OS launched this year at the Mobile World Congress where the Samsung Wave took the industry by surprise. The Bada has since proven itself to be quite the impressive little smart phone platform. The Wave itself has managed to make over a million in sales –despite the fact that Samsung’s other super phone, the Galaxy S, was making much larger waves on its own.

So far, little has been revealed about the Bada 2.0 platform, but from the looks of it, Samsung is taking the full course with features. From business applications to social networking, the new OS is packed to the brim. The teaser they launched also announced a new channel for ads which many believe would be similar to Apple’s iAds.

The Korean phone maker is not the only with big news, Google’s head engineers are grinning widely at the new tablet-ready Android Honeycomb. While the new OS name is not quite a dessert (but still quite sweet), the Honeycomb finally addresses one of Google’s earlier concerns about tablet devices –the Android was not designed for such tools (which is actually why Google has Chrome).

But seeing as the Android seems to be the choice platform for manufacturers, then the 2.4 Honeycomb is the perfect enabler –it makes the smart phone OS suited for the much larger screen.

Naturally, the Google OS update will not be solely for touch screen tablets alone. The honeycomb also promises to bring better performance and extended functionality to Android smart phones as well. Expect to see Honeycomb early this 2011.
