Microsoft has already confirmed the information, but so far, there has been no exact date on when the first major Windows Phone 7 mobile platform update will be launched. What we do know is that copy and paste will be present in the OS –in fact, a video showcasing the new feature has been released online.
The video clearly shows that WP7 not only has the feature, but has a very neatly made function for it as well. As one would expect, there are start and end anchors for text selection which makes the touch controls a lot easier and more importantly, an even easier to access menu for copying and pasting the actual content.
Overall, we are very happy about this, though most of us are indeed wondering why Microsoft did not simply choose to add in this simple yet extremely useful feature in the first place. In fact, many may even recall the fact that Microsoft has specifically announced early on that copy and paste will not be featured in the new operating system (they did promise that it will be present in a much more limited form; able to copy only phone numbers and email addresses).
Google’s Nexus S smart phone has been confirmed by Samsung for a launch within the next week and a half. The only question now is whether the device will actually sell. In terms of specs and features, the Android smart phone with the Google brand is going to easily match the Apple iPhone 4 (with the only weakness being the games department).
As for distribution, it has been stated that Carphone Warehouse might possibly have an exclusive deal for the device. The original Nexus One smart phone sold in the UK through Vodafone and other commercial channels; both devices are expected to be available to developers through special Google channels as well.
