If you’re on the lookout for a super-cheap mobile phone with a contemporary design, you’re in luck – two of Nokia’s most affordable handsets are due to land on Orange UK soon.
The Nokia C2-01 and the Nokia C1-01 both sport a traditional candybar design and decent features together with a price suitable for every budget.
When the C1-01 on Orange launches – no date is mentioned at present and the network just lists the device as “coming soon” – you can expect a straightforward phone. Specifications include a 1.8 inch display, VGA camera, 3.5mm audio jack and FM radio, microSD card slot, and built-in games.
Nokia announced this phone back in summer 2010, stating: “The C1-01 is a low-cost ‘feature’ phone with an estimated retail price of EUR 39. Nonetheless, it comes with a VGA camera, an SD memory card slot for up to 32 GB of storage, mail and chat. There’s also an FM radio and music player.”
The 3G-enabled Nokia C2-01 was described as the company’s “most inexpensive new 3G phone” during its unveiling back in November. Expected to launch with a price tag of €70 before taxes so it’s still affordable, and considering its comes with a 2 inch screen, Bluetooth, music player, 3.2-megapixel snapper, microSD card slot and 3.5mm audio jack, it’s a decent handset.
Both phones are compact and light, with the C1-01 weighing 79g and the C2-01 89g. As these handsets were scheduled for a Q1 2011 release date, you shouldn’t have to wait long before the C1-01 and C2-01 on Orange land in the UK. In the meantime, you can take a look at the promotional video for the C2-01, below.
A phone at the higher-end of the market is also expected to arrive on Orange shortly – the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play. However, unlike the two Nokia phones which will only be offered on PAYG, the Xperia Play will likely be offered in a range of contract and PAYG options.
