Nokia X3 Touch and Type, C6-00 and X6-00 Handsets Get Software Update

January 4th, 2011 by Caroline

Nokia has welcomed in the New Year with a flurry of software updates for several of its mobile phones, including the X3 Touch and Type handset, the C6-00 and X6-00 mobiles.

With a neat combination of a touchscreen and 12-button keypad, the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type is among the slimmest Nokia devices currently on the market. The latest software update brings the phone up to version 05.65/05.68. The company issued this statement on the release: “This software release brings general performance improvements. To get this software through your device, type in *#0000# on the home screen or go to Device Manager. Select Options > Check for updates and follow the on-screen prompts. Alternatively, this software release is available through the Nokia Software Updater.”

The Nokia X6-00 is an older model, released back in late 2009. A popular music phone with nifty features including 3D Surround Sound and a 5-megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash, Nokia has recently released the upgrade to software version 30.2.003 for the X6-00. This update brings with it improvements including the Here and Now app for accessing local information, a new version of the web browser and updates to the Ovi Maps and Ovi Store.

The C6-00 has just received the software version 20.0.042/20.2.042 together with “general performance improvements”.

To access any of the updates on the X3-02, X6-00 and C6-00 phones, Nokia advises you to “select Applications > Software Update, and choose the software you want to update. Alternatively, this software release is available through the Nokia Software Updater.”

Other Nokia devices to get software updates include the Nokia 6700 Slide, with version 061.004 released. Features of this new update include a better music player, more smileys, a new version of the Ovi Store and performance enhancements. This update is available through Applications on the 6700 Slide handset, Software Update and then through selecting the relevant software.
