Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Tab 2 Confirmed for MWC

January 27th, 2011 by Caroline

All eyes are on MWC 2011 as it promises to unleash new and exciting devices onto the market. And thanks to a leaked Samsung MWC document we now know that the Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Tab 2 will be among those unveiled.

The leaked PR plan details the events on 13 February during MWC, and the fact Samsung President JK Shin will introduce the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab successors during his speech.

The Galaxy S2 has been previously rumoured and was expected to launch officially during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month. Following on from the popular Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, the S2 will come with a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus touchscreen, a NFC (Near Field Communication) reader, 1GB of RAM, dual-core 1GHz Orion processor, and an 8-megapixel camera capable of 1080p recording. The design of the Samsung Galaxy S2 will boast a super-slim frame, 0.9mm thinner than the Galaxy S.

The new Samsung tablet device, Galaxy Tab 2 will also feature a dual-core 1GHz Orion processor. A press conference invitation from Samsung (below, and thanks to the guys over at ElectricPig for the image) implies that the new Galaxy Tab will have a 10 inch display instead of the original Tab’s 7 inch. The invite states: “Something big is coming to Barcelona. Something that reveals our vision for 2011…Changing needs of consumers continue to shape the development of devices.”

It would make sense for Samsung to make the Tab successor bigger, to rival Apple’s iPad in the tablet market. At least we only have a couple of weeks until the details are revealed to us.

HTC also has plans to introduce a tablet device during MWC 2011 – the HTC Flyer, recently leaked online, is a 7 inch device with two cameras. The company is thought to be planning a 10 inch tablet too.
