Acer Iconia Smart Appears, Acer Liquid Metal Re-Named at MWC

February 14th, 2011 by Liam

Not to be outdone by the big boys in the mobile industry, Acer have announced an interesting new handset of their own at MWC this year. This new piece of Acer kit goes by the name of “Acer Iconia Smart” and seems to fall somewhere in between the realms of smartphone and tablet with its 4.8”, 1024×480 resolution, 21:9 ratio display. Aside from its impressive screen, the Iconia Smart also features a 1GHz Snapdragon processor, an 8 megapixel camera with an LED flash and a secondary webcam. The Iconia Smart is running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Acer’s “Breeze” UI over the top.

Acer’s Liquid Metal handset has also been spotted at their MWC booths, but under the new name of “Acer Liquid mt“. We couldn’t spot any changes to the handset other than the re-naming. There’s no word on a release date or pricing for either of these handsets as yet, but we’ll keep you posted as updates arise.
