Dell Streak 10 to run Honeycomb, Could Share Hardware with Windows Device

February 16th, 2011 by Liam

We first heard of the Dell Streak 10 at CES in January. It’s an Android tablet and anyone who’s heard of the Dell Streak 5 (with its 5 inch screen) and the Dell Streak 7 (with its 7 inch screen) won’t be too hard pushed to take a guess at the size of the Dell Streak 10’s screen (hint: it’s a 10 inch screen).

Anyway, we’ve just heard a few bits of interesting news about the Dell Streak 10. Firstly, Dell have confirmed that the Streak 10 will ship with Android 3.0 Honeycomb and not an older version of Android designed for smartphones. Secondly (and more intriguingly), it seems that though the Streak 10 was revealed as an Android device, Dell may well release another tablet with the same shell and roughly the same internal hardware but running on Windows. This move comes as part of the company’s strategy to consolidate its hardware options while offering a variety of software options. They even hinted that a version of the Streak 10 might be sold running both Android and Windows. Now that would be interesting…
