If the latest reports coming from MWC are to be believed, the original HTC Desire, the Desire HD and the Desire Z will be getting updates to Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Unfortunately for existing Desire owners, these updates could take some time.
According to cnet.com, a representative of HTC confirmed to them that Gingerbread updates to the older handsets would be released within two months of the release of the HTC Desire S. However, he also indicated that these would not be released simultaneously and that the Desire Z and Desire HD updates would likely be released first. So with the Desire S not expected to be released for another month or two at least, a further two months to wait after that, plus however long the networks decide to fiddle with the update before pushing it out, Desire Z and Desire HD owners could be waiting quite a while to get their first taste of Gingerbread and original Desire owners will probably be waiting even longer.
