Just a week after the Samsung Galaxy S II was announced at MWC and became the world’s thinnest smartphone, its crown appears to have been snatched away by a new handset from Japan. The title of “World’s Thinnest Smartphone” now goes to the NEC Medias E-04C which measures in at just 7.7mm wide, more than half a millimetre thinner than Samsung’s 8.49mm Galaxy S II. Few other details on the E-04C are known except that it will run Android 2.2, and boast a 4” screen and an NFC chip. It’ll be launched officially in Japan on the 24th of February but unfortunately we haven’t heard any news of an international launch yet.
