Sony Ericsson have begun the official roll-out of updates for the 2010 family of Xperia phones. The update will be available using PC software for most markets or through an OTA (Over the Air) download. The update fixes a host of problems including addition of new languages and Pinch Zoom touch for the X10 devices.
Unfortunately, the Xperia X10 is the only device that will receive the pinch to zoom for mobile internet and Google Maps. But all products will receive the Arabic, Farsi, Thai and Hebrew language packs.
Some users have confirmed that they have already started to receive the update, but Sony Ericsson is saying that the masses will receive it within a week or so as every kit needs specific and different approvals before it can be released.
Other improvements include the ability to trim recorded video, similar to what one would find in the iPhone and webOS line of devices. There is another minor change that allows one to access the “Now Playing” screen from the top right corner of the devices screen. There is also automatic transcoding of high quality video to MMS size. Also there is an updated version of the Moxier Active Sync software and widgets for email, calendar and tasks have been added.
Last but not least, Sony Ericsson has added one cool feature that is bound to catch the attention of those in the medical industry or looking to watch their health. The new update will include ANT+ which will allow your phone to communicate with external health-monitoring equipment such as heart rate monitors, distance and speed monitors, blood pressure devices and a whole host of other medical equipment that utilize ANT+.
