Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi Tablet on Pre-order in UK for £450

March 1st, 2011 by Caroline

The first tablet device from Motorola, and the first tablet to run on Google’s Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS, is available to pre-order in the UK for an incredible £449.99.

The Wi-Fi version of the Motorola XOOM can be yours for just £10 more than the 16GB Wi-Fi iPad model – and is £60 cheaper than the 32GB Wi-Fi only iPad.

If you’re tempted to pre-order the Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi in the UK, it’s available from PC World, “the first retailer to bring Motorola Xoom WiFi to you”.

PC World has actually altered its Motorola XOOM pre-order page – the guys over at Engadget captured the original page with the price and pre-order button (above). However, Engadget reported that when they tried to pre-order the tablet, the button seemed to be “malfunctioning” – and now the price and button have been removed altogether.

The page now ends with: “For more information, come back soon”.

We hope this doesn’t mean the pleasing price given for the XOOM is incorrect. We’ll keep you posted on this, and our guess is Motorola will opt for competitive pricing in order to make a sufficient splash in the tablet market.

The Apple iPad 2 is among the XOOM’s rival devices – and Apple is set to officially launch its next-generation iPad tomorrow, Wednesday 2 March.

Motorola has crammed its first tablet with high-end functions and features, including a dual-core processor and dual cameras. The main snapper has 5-megapixels and support for HD video recording, and the 2-megapixel front-facing camera enables you to make video calls.

The Motorola XOOM has a 10.1 inch display, so you’ll be able to watch movies, interact online and enjoy mobile gaming – the 3D Graphics Engine boosts the tablet’s gaming ability for a “richer” experience. The XOOM also has inbuilt speakers for listening to films and music, and 32GB of internal storage.

Will you be ordering the Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi device?
