his BlackBerry may be unofficial but that hasn’t prevented the guys over at BGR from getting close-up shots of the upcoming Bold Touch.
First leaked way back in January, in RIM’s 2011 roadmap, the BlackBerry Bold Touch was recently shown in a YouTube video – as was the BlackBerry Touch handset.
BGR describes the Bold Touch as “solid” with a “responsive touchscreen” and “great and spacious BlackBerry keyboard”. From the photos, the phone certainly looks good to us.
And there’s some really good news for BlackBerry fans worried about the impact the addition of a touchscreen will have on battery performance – the device sports an enhanced battery.
Set to be announced at BlackBerry World in May, with an expected launch date of June or July, the BlackBerry Bold Touch has a 2.8 inch display with 640 x 480 pixel resolution. Features include a 1.2GHz processor, BB OS 6.1, 5-megapixel camera with 720p video recording capability, 8GB internal storage, NFC technology, and the ability to act as a Wi-Fi hotspot.
When it first leaked, the Bold Touch was described as “sleek and slim – the thinnest BlackBerry ever”. Measuring just 115 x 66 x 10.5mm, this RIM device not only looks good but it boasts “premium materials and finishes” and has a “forged, machined stainless steel frame”. And just look how it compares in terms of thinness next to Apple’s iPhone 4.
Are you excited about this next-generation Bold 9780 phone? The Bold Touch 9930 should be unveiled during BlackBerry World next month, alongside other exciting, upcoming smartphones including the Storm 2, Curve and Torch successors.
In the meantime, enjoy the hands-on photos below!
