Three UK are now offering the follow up to the popular HTC Wildfire, the HTC Wildfire S, on both PAYG and contract. The HTC Wildfire S takes the concept and design of the original Wildfire and brings it up to date with improved specifications across the board.

The newer handset is slimmer and lighter than the original and features the same 3.2” TFT LCD touchscreen, but with an improved resolution of 320 x 480 pixels compared to the older phone’s 240 x 320 resolution. This will be an important upgrade for some, as one of the few common complaints about the Wildfire was that the low screen resolution resulted in a slightly blurry display.
Under the hood, the new Wildfire S has received an upgraded processor and more RAM, from 528MHz to 600 MHz and from 384MB to 512MB, respectively. This results in an all-round smoother and faster performance for the newer smartphone. Both handsets feature a 5 megapixel camera, but the Wildfire S has had its video capture capabilities upgraded to allow it to capture 720p HD video.
Overall, the HTC Wildfire S represents a solid upgrade to a classic phone and a good choice for anyone looking for a decent mid-range handset. The Wildfire S will be available from Three on PAYG for £229.99 or for free on contracts beginning at £20 per month.
