When you bought an iPhone you probably thought it was for you, but of course the kids grabbed hold of it, didn’t they? Thankfully there is more than enough tech and apps around suitable for a huge range of purposes. If you want some apps to your children happy then you have to take a look at these.

1. Helicopter Taxi.
This lovely little apps costs under a pound and lets your child use the iPhone screen to control a helicopter which they fly about the house or garden. A throwback to more innocent days of paper airplanes and jumpers for goalposts without the threat of breaking anything around the house.
2. Paper Bomber HD.
This is a free game which can be played in single player or multiplayer mode and involves stopping some baddies in their tracks. The graphics are good, the interface is easy to use and the whole thing is a fun package for a young player.
3. Scribble.
This is another cheap app which can provide youngsters with a lot of fun. They can either draw on the screen with their figures or crush horrible little bugs to make a pretty pattern. A good app to download in time for that Bank holiday trip to the seaside.
4. Monster Blaster.
Not as frightening as the name suggests (well, it frightened us), this is actually a child friendly Tetris clone which comes in at under a quid and has some fine little touches included in it without the 80’s soundtrack.
5. Memory Planet.
Don’t you just love matching games? This is a fun and colourful one which lets you try and finding the pair from a whole range of themes. There is a global leader board and social networking integration as well. A good buy for less than the price of an ice cream.
6. Cars & Animals Puzzle for Toddlers and Preschool.
Lots of big colourful puzzles here to get your little one’s brain ticking over and keep him quiet for a spell. Another app which costs under a pound too.
7. Preschool Playmat: Farm Fun.
There are lots of different games and activities on here – counting, memory games, and matching games – so more chance that the kid will find more things to keep them occupied. This one costs about £1.50 and is well worth it if you want to entertain and educate a child while they play.
8. Asleep Kids.
If your baby or child struggles to head off to the land of nod in the evening this white noise / ambient noise app might help them drop off while annoying you intensely with never ending sounds of rainforests and fans. Don’t use while operating heavy machinery or driving.
9. Super Why.
This is a bit more expensive than most of the others on the list but it does give a very nice list of activities which will help a young child learn some useful skills and answer those all important questions.
10. Disney Fairies Fly.
As this is a Disney product it is obviously the most expensive on the list but it is also very pretty and a decent way to end the magical world of fairies, birds and fireflies with some fine graphics.
