There is no need to look out your tennis racket and trainers to get a slice of action in the next couple of weeks. Wimbledon might be upon us, which inevitably means rain delays, but you could always download some sports games to play during all those annoying rain interruptions.
TouchSports Tennis 2011.
This is a great tennis game for anyone who just can’t get enough of the sport right now. The graphics are stunning and you can try out all those special shots Murray and Nadal wow us with. It is the follow up to an older game so make sure you download the 2011 version for the best gameplay and graphics.
Football manager.
This type of game has to come with a health warning no matter what format you play it on. If you like sleeping, eating and generally living a normal life then the addictive nature of Football Manager could be a problem. At £7 it is a bit steep for an iPhone app but you know you want it. If you have played the game before on a different device you will be glad to see a familiar interface and just about all the options you could hope for.
King of Tennis.
Another tennis game? Yes, but this is a bit different as you don’t actually control the tennis players but rather one of the spectators. Eh? You are the king who sits down in the front row and has to follow the action with your head. It is more interesting than it sounds.
Flick Golf.
If you love playing golf then it might take a bit of getting used to but you will end up enjoying this app. You don’t use any clubs but you use your finger to flick the ball the way you want it to go. It costs under a quid and gives hours of finger flicking fun.
Air Hockey.
Do you remember those lazy, hazy days down the arcade smashing a puck rather aimlessly around a table in a wind assisted manner? No? In that case this will be something new and exciting for you then. You can play against different opponents, the action is fast, the graphics are great and it is free. What more could we ask for?
10 Pin Shuffle.
Does 10 pin bowling really count as a sport or is it in that grey area with tiddlywinks and throwing playing cards into a hat on a long Sunday afternoon? Who cares. It is one of the games which is actually better playing on a screen than in real life, not least because you don’t need to wear those weird shoes which the staff spray strange liquid into before giving them to you.
International Snooker.
This costs a fiver and gives you a pretty realistic snooker game for the money. The graphics are great, the balls move the way they should, you can control the shot nicely and all that is missing is that crazy Pot Black theme tune.
Big Cup Cricket.
The players are rather cartoon like but the action is exciting. If you want a game of iPhone cricket then you have a few choices but this is one of the best around. It costs less than two pounds so is worth a punt.
