Samsung Galaxy S II Unit Sales Hit 3 Million

July 4th, 2011 by Caroline

The Samsung Galaxy S II looks set to soon smash the 10-million unit sales milestone of its predecessor, after the company announced sales of the S II have now hit 3 million units.

The successor to the original Samsung Galaxy S smartphone has achieved “global channel sales of 3 million units” – not bad, considering the device only launched recently!

Actually, this isn’t the first sign of the Galaxy S II’s popularity, as the device became the fastest-selling smartphone in Korea after hitting the 1-million sales mark in Korea in one month.

The original Galaxy S sold over 10 million units, so the S II still has a way to go but when you consider 100,000 units were sold in its first 3 days in Korea, we’d say it’s more a matter of when and not if, it will exceed this milestone.

In Samsung’s press release, JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business said: “Announced at Mobile World Congress 2011, the GALAXY S II represents our most advanced smartphone to date and demonstrates Samsung‘s commitment to deliver premium, market-defining devices.

“This milestone reflects the continued strong support from our carrier partners around the world who have chosen the GALAXY S II as their flagship Android device.”

Features of the Galaxy S II include a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED Plus display, dual-core 1.2GHz processor, “beautifully thin” 8.49mm frame, Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS, and 8-megapixel rear camera with 1080p video recording abilities together with a 2-megapixel front-facing snapper.

There is also access to the Samsung Hubs on the S II, including the Readers Hub for enjoying e-books on the move, Music Hub, and Social Hub for making managing your social life a doddle.
