Top 7 iPhone Apps for Job Seekers

July 1st, 2011 by Richard

Looking for a new job is such as pain, isn’t it? You end up surrounded by newspaper cuttings, waiting on phone calls from agencies which never happen and basically losing the will to live. Well not anymore. It is time to use your iPhone to get a new job.

1. Monster.com.

This is one of the best sites on the internet for getting a new job sorted out. The iPhone app lets you use your same account details as the site and syncs all your information as you go along. You can even search for jobs using GPS. It is free to download and has all the features you could hope for to let you apply in comfort and without any hassle.

2. UK Jobsearch.

It does what it says really. If you are looking for a job in the UK then it is worth having. There is a wide range of vacancies and a salary comparison tool. It is also free.

3. UKJobs.net.

This is another free one which is similar to the last two. The interface and functions are similar enough in all three for you to just make the decision based on personal preference. If you are already registered for one site then it would make sense to stick with them.

4. JobFinder.

Here you can search for jobs on some of the most popular sites around, so it is a decent choice for a consolidated approach. For a free app it isn’t bad but some users have reported problems with it closing randomly. You can choose to search in the UK or the US.

5. oDesk.

If you have decided that you are going to give up the rat race and work as a freelancer while living on a remote Scottish island surrounded by puffins and seaweed then this is the one for you. Of course you could stay in your current house and work as a freelancer as well we suppose, but who will look after the puffins? The app is free and there are loads of jobs for writers, programmers and also sorts of other people. Having said that, the site is still a lot better than the app.

6. InterviewBuddy.

Need a new job but terrified of the interview? Most of us hate these grillings but this free app might just help. Even if it doesn’t it is still a bit of brain stretching fun.

7. Interview Buzz Lite.

With this app you get about 30 of the most commonly asked interview questions to help you prepare for the big day. Pay for the full app and you get 300 questions to make you sweat profusely and mumble nervously. This is a decent help for anyone who doesn’t have much interview experience and it is easy enough to get around it as well.
