With the official announcement of the latest BlackBerry Curve model still fresh news and as the excitement regarding its imminent release builds, we thought we’d take a closer look at the upcoming Curve 9360 and how it compares to the current Curve 9300 handset.
Are you a fan of the Curve 3G 9300 smartphone?
If you are, this may have something to do with its affordable price tag, traditional RIM design and feature-rich interior.
Launched at the end of summer 2010, the Curve 9300 has enjoyed tremendous success. In fact, sales of this BlackBerry are still outstripping many new smartphones – in a recent Facebook Friday Insights report, the Curve 9300 was one of the top sellers together with some less-surprising numbers like the iPhone 4 and Galaxy S II.
So how do you think the new Curve 9360 will perform in comparison to the Curve 9300?
Our prediction is the latest Curve will be more popular and be able to reach a wider audience.
Why?
Because, despite being slimmer, lighter and faster than its predecessor, the Curve 9360 remains a cheaper alternative to the high-end Torch 9810 and Bold 9900 smartphones.
Just as the Curve 9300 came with a number of improvements compared to the Curve 8520, most notable being the 3G connectivity, the Curve 9360 boasts several upgrades.
Firstly, there is the design, which is trimmer and sleeker. Then there’s the higher resolution display (480×360 versus 320×240 pixels). And lastly, there are the specs – for example, the inbuilt camera has been boosted from 2-megapixels to 5-megapixels and the processor has gone from a 624MHz to an 800MHz model.
The BlackBerry Curve 9360 runs on the BB OS 7 which delivers lots of new niceties including Liquid Graphics for rich animations, a faster browser, voice-activated search and NFC technology.
All in all, the Curve 9360 has some appealing upgrades to ensure it can compete well in the mid-range smartphone market.
