Best Android Phones Coming Soon To The UK

September 28th, 2011 by Caroline

For those of you who are viewing next Tuesday’s Apple iPhone event with calmness and vague interest, because your eyes are fixed firmly on the upcoming Android smartphones instead, then read on!

Four exciting new Android handsets are set to land in the UK in the coming weeks, and will be available on contracts as well as PAYG.

There’s the HTC Sensation XE, Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S, Samsung Galaxy W and HTC Rhyme.

But what you want to know is release dates and pricing, right?

HTC Sensation XE

The jazzed up version of the original HTC Sensation, the Sensation XE comes with Beats Audio technology as well as a number of improvements.

The phone has a Beats by Dr Dre headset included with it which automatically starts the special Beats profile. And the Sensation XE is powered by a dual-core 1.5GHz processor and boasts a better battery too.

Phones 4u announced early on that it will be selling this new Sensation smartphone, which will be exclusive to the retailer for a time.

The release date is set as the 1st October and pricing for the Sensation XE is free from £36 per month for contracts on a range of networks.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc S

With the same high-end design but packing some tweaks in for good measure, the Xperia Arc S is the updated version of Sony Ericsson’s flagship device the Xperia Arc.

Improvements include a more powerful, 1.4GHz processor.

You can get your hands on the Xperia Arc S soon as Three has just confirmed the handset is coming to its network imminently. The Arc S on Three will also come in an exclusive gloss black design.

When it comes to pricing, nothing has been stated yet although we suspect you’ll be able to get this smartphone for free on contracts in the region of £30 a month.

Samsung Galaxy W

One of the four new Android smartphones recently unveiled by Samsung, the Galaxy W is an attractive mid-range device with a 3.7 inch WVGA display, TouchWiz and 1.4GHz processor.

The Samsung Galaxy W is heading to O2 and Three any moment now, having made an appearance on Three’s Coming Soon page and been given the release date of September 2011 by O2.

Pricing for the Galaxy W is unconfirmed at present but you can expect contracts with a free phone to start from around £20/£25 per month. Watch this space to discover when this phone becomes available.

HTC Rhyme

Previosuly known as the HTC Bliss, the HTC Rhyme has a similar look to the Desire S and focuses on being “a total offering” rather than simply a phone.

Armed with numerous accessories, including a Charm cable which has a cube at its end that glows whenever there’s an incoming call or message, the Rhyme appears to be aimed at the female market although HTC has not specifically stated this.

Features include a 3.7 inch display, Sense 3.5 and a 5-megapixel camera with HD video capabilities.

If you’re keen to buy the HTC Rhyme, it’s coming exclusively to O2 on 17th October. We expect pricing to be in the region of £25 per month on contracts with a free phone.
