Orange San Francisco II Launch Date and Pricing Confirmed

November 17th, 2011 by Caroline

Orange has officially unveiled its slimmer, lighter and improved version of the popular San Francisco smartphone, the Orange San Francisco II.

This budget Android device is landing exclusively on Orange at the end of this month and can be yours for £99 on PAYG with a £10 top-up or for free on monthly plans from £10.50.

Christmas is well and truly on its way and the San Francisco successor is likely to be a hit this year thanks to its design and pricing – like the HTC Explorer handset, we think this combination will prove tempting to shoppers in the run-up to the festive season.

Best Mobile Contracts had an exclusive leak of the new Orange smartphone, after it was spotted in the Help & Support section of Orange’s own website. So we had a fair idea what to expect of the San Francisco II before today.

Features wise, the handset runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and is powered by an 800MHz processor. It comes with 512MB of internal memory, an inbuilt 5-megapixel camera, and lots of Orange apps pre-loaded including Your Orange for managing your account, Orange Wednesdays for cinema offers, and Orange Contacts Back-up.

Measuring a slim 10.6mm, the Orange San Francisco II also benefits from a lighter frame (120g), signal boost, 3.5-inch WVGA capacitive display and High Definition Voice for making clearer calls.

And whilst we’re on the topic of budget Android phones, T-Mobile added the T-Mobile Vivacity to its Coming Soon page today.

With similar features, including 3.5-inch screen, Gingerbread OS and 5-megapixel camera, the Vivacity is expected to arrive on T-Mobile in time for Christmas and should be available for a similar price as the San Francisco II – which you can see in action in the video below.
