BlackBerry Curve 9380: Specs and Deals

December 2nd, 2011 by Caroline

The full-touchscreen BlackBerry has landed and is available on four of the major networks. So if you’re tempted by the new Curve 9380 handset, let’s take a closer look at its specs and the best deals to be had.

Launched in mid-November, this smartphone is the first in the Curve range to have a full touchscreen. At 3.2-inches and 360 x 480 pixels resolution, the Curve 9380 is compact, light and user-friendly.

Despite its slim frame and small price tag, the Curve 9380 has BB OS 7 onboard. This means it boasts high-end features including a better browser, and Augmented Reality and NFC support. In addition, the company is trialling Telefonica’s BlackBerry Wallet which would enable tap-and-pay function on this handset – if the trial is a success, it should be released in the UK during 2012.

Like all good BlackBerry phones, email support is great and you can easily keep your work and personal content separate. RIM has also pre-loaded a number of business and entertainment apps to get you started.

And the good news is there are some excellent offers on the Curve 9380 at the moment.

On T-Mobile, you can get a free phone with unlimited monthly data, 300 minutes and 300 texts for an effective monthly charge of just £12.74 – at the moment, it comes with 10 months £1.99 by redemption offer, saving you £184.30 over the life of the contract.

On Orange, deals start from £26 per month with a free Curve 9380. However, at the moment you can effectively reduce your monthly outgoings to £15.17 as the network is giving 10 months free by redemption, and still throwing in 400 minutes, unlimited texts and 250MB of data.

Similarly, Vodafone is offering 19 months half-price by redemption, which effectively reduces the monthly cost to £15.71. This deal comes with 500 minutes, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.

At the moment, O2 is offering the BlackBerry Curve 9380 free on £24 per month contracts, with 300 minutes, unlimited texts and 100MB of data.
