HTC Set To Launch New Quad Core Smartphones During MWC

January 5th, 2012 by Caroline

HTC is anticipated to up the ante next month, when it unveils a number of quad-core smartphones during Mobile World Congress 2012.

We’ve previously heard rumours of a quad-core HTC device, the HTC Edge, but apparently the company is expected to introduce more than one new powerful smartphone in February.

This is all linked to the fact JPMorgan Chase, investment bankers, have upgraded the stock of HTC to “overweight” in anticipation of the new quad-core phones. And should HTC unveil the expected handsets, including the Edge, and release these phones in April time, it will gain an edge over its competitors, for want of a better word.

“HTC will maintain its lead against rivals by two months if it unveils Tegra 3 – and MSM 8960-based smartphones in February and ships the models on time in April, the paper quoted Alvin Kwok, an analyst at JPMorgan Chase, as saying,” Digitimes reports.

The HTC Edge is thought to be powered by Nvidia’s AP30 Tegra 3 chip and include high-end features such as 1GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 4.0, 8-megapixel camera, 4.7-inch display, and Beats Audio technology.

When the Edge surfaced most recently, it was alongside another quad-core smartphone, the HTC Zeta which boasts a whopping 2.5GHz quad-core chip, although sadly this is likely to be more fiction than fact. There is, however, the HTC Ville which may take a bow at MWC – said to be the slimmest HTC phone to-date, the Ville should come with Ice Cream Sandwich onboard as well as an 8-megapixel camera, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, Beats Audio and 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display.

So watch this space to discover just what HTC has in-store for us during this year’s MWC in February – what are you hoping the company will announce?
