iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 Top Sellers at Best Mobile Contracts

January 6th, 2012 by Caroline

Week one of the New Year sees Apple riding high once again, with both the latest iPhones the top sellers at Best Mobile Contracts – closely followed by Samsung’s two Galaxy phones, the S and S II models.

The latest figures are hardly surprising, considering the year Apple’s just had, with the iPhone 4S coming top dog in the Christmas sales and voted top in our own list of hot handsets of 2011 – not to mention the fact the yet-to-materialise iPhone 5 featured in Google’s most-searched terms of the year.

Mind you, Samsung had a pretty good year too, shifting 300 million mobile phones. This equates to a mind-boggling 9 phone sales a second! And much of this success was attributed to the popularity of the Galaxy S and S II smartphones.

It seems that HTC and BlackBerry are trailing behind, however, if the latest figures are anything to go by – although the Bold 9300 and Bold 9780, HTC Sensation and the budget-friendly Wildfire S made it into the top sellers list this week.

And HTC is having wider issues too, according to Reuters. The company has just posted a 25.5% drop in net profit during Q4, although for the whole of 2011 net profit was actually up by 57% compared to 2010.

In addition, HTC is anticipated to unveil a number of quad-core smartphones during next month’s Mobile World Congress. The HTC Edge high-end device has been rumoured previously and is thought to make an appearance in February’s event alongside other quad-core phones. Should this happen and the new handsets are released fairly briskly, HTC could gain a lead against its competitors.

Well, we’ll have to wait and see whether HTC unleashes quad-core goodness on us next month. All we know is that 2012 promises to be another great year for mobile phone fans!
