Vodafone has enlisted the help of Star Wars character Yoda to help promote its newest customer service, RED Box.
Vodafone RED Box makes it easier for customers to set-up their new handsets, by automatically transferring the content from their old phone onto their new phone. All customers need to do is visit a store with both mobiles and “in minutes” staff will have transferred contacts, photos, videos, music and more using the Real-time Exchange Device.
RED Box works with 3,000+ mobile phones and on all operating systems including iPhone and Android. The transfer is made automatically and securely, with the content backed up too.
To promote this new service, Vodafone has enlisted Yoda’s help, who will star in the network’s TV adverts. The first of these adverts can be seen tomorrow night on Channel 4 between 8pm and 9pm, and features Yoda trying to use the Force to move the numbers across from the guy’s old device onto his new phone before realising RED Box has sorted it already – and “without Jedi training”.
You can take a look at this advert in the video below. We reckon the new phone in question here is the Nokia Lumia 800 – what are your thoughts?
RED Box is part of a range of services introduced by Vodafone to make it easier for customers to buy the right smartphone for them, use it straightaway, and know how to explore the phone’s features and apps. Other services include Buyback, which allows customers to bring in their old phones or send them in and receive a new phone at a reduced price, a high street voucher or cash to the value of up to £270.
There is also the Data Test Drive, which lets new and upgrading customers on contracts use as much internet data as they want for the first three months, so they can find the right data plan for them.
Danielle Crook, Director of Brand Marketing at Vodafone UK said: “These small things can mean the world to our customers – it’s why we have developed a range of simple services to help them feel confidently connected on the go. The campaign with Yoda shows that you don’t need to be a Jedi Master to unlock the power of mobile internet.”
It seems networks are increasingly looking for ways to give customers more, as Orange recently introduced Swapables for its Panther monthly plans. These give customers up to two free apps each month.
As always, we’d love to hear your views on this news – are you impressed by Vodafone’s RED Box service?
