Exclusive: More Details On The Upcoming HTC Endeavour

February 17th, 2012 by Caroline

The hotly anticipated quad-core HTC smartphone is once more the subject of a tipster!

Whether the upcoming high-end device will go by the name of HTC One X or HTC Endeavour, remains to be seen. But the guys over at Android@MaDaCo, who brought us recent news, expect the Endeavour to land – and bring with it some pretty delectable specs.

It was recently verified that the HTC Endeavour would arrive on the mobile phone scene with a splash, boasting a 4.7-inch HD AMOLED display, Beats Audio software, Ice Cream Sandwich OS, Tegra 3 quad-core processor, and 8-megapixel camera.

And now the site has heard once again from its tipster, and has “some more specifics” to whet your interest in the run-up to Mobile World Congress 2012, which is of course when this HTC handset is expected to take a bow.

Among the newest details is the design. The HTC Endeavour will be thin – “THIN” – but still premium, so you can expect a super-sleek smartphone that also offers a high quality construction.

Other design features include keys on the screen, but only a power key and volume controller on the outside of the phone. As we already knew, there is Beats Audio goodness onboard, and the mobile will be branded accordingly on its back. Plus it will come with a pair of Beats earphones, just like the HTC Sensation XE and XL do. And there will be a five-pin connector for linking the phone to a Beats Audio speaker.

The Endeavour is set to be a very powerful device, and the Tegra 3 chip has been confirmed as being the Nvidia AP33 1.5GHz / XMM6260 plus there is 1GB of RAM packed in for good measure. Internal features include NFC support and ICS 4.0.3 which is “likely to get bumped” to 4.0.5 before the release date comes around.

The 8-megapixel camera has a backlit sensor, LED flash and 1080p video capabilities, and the front-facing 1.3-megapixel snapper can make HD video calls.

There is no microSD slot on this HTC quad-core powered smartphone, although it does arrive with 32GB of internal storage and is said to support mass storage mode, which is not something offered as standard on ICS. And you should expect it to take a microSIM, just like the latest iPhones do.

This all adds up to one seriously exciting handset! Are you looking forward to HTC’s hoped-for official introduction of this phone during MWC?
