Nokia MWC Plans Revealed: Lumia 900 and Lumia 610 Coming

February 14th, 2012 by Caroline

Mobile World Congress 2012 beckons, with but days to go before this major event commences in Barcelona. To mark the occasion, we’ve had countless leaks, rumours and unveilings in the run-up to the date – and now Nokia’s plans for MWC have been revealed.

So just what does Nokia have up its sleeve for this month’s mobile event?

Six devices, including two new Windows Phone handsets to join Nokia’s popular Lumia range. And we even have the names of these new Nokia gadgets for you – although sadly zero specs – thanks to the guys over at PocketNow.

Joining the Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 smartphones, is the Lumia 900. First introduced during CES, it was thought to be solely US-bound at first, but it was then revealed to be scheduled for a UK launch this June.

The 900 model has been previously rumoured as heading to MWC, and there is speculation that this premium WP phone will come to Europe with a Lumia 910 moniker instead.

The second Lumia device coming to MWC later this month is said to be the Lumia 610, a budget version of the original Lumia.

Interestingly, both the Lumia 900 and Lumia 601 (granted, not the 610) leaked last December. The 601 model was thought to be an entry-level phone, although the purported picture of this handset was bizarre, showing an 8-megapixel snapper – on a budget phone?

However, that Nokia will reveal two new WP handsets during MWC is hardly surprising. After all, the company is expected to shift 37million Windows Phone mobiles this year.

There will be one Nokia Symbian smartphone in the line up also, the Nokia 808 PureView, which is thought to be a full touchscreen device and the successor to the Nokia N8.

In addition, three feature phones are expected to be introduced by Nokia at MWC – the Asha 302, Asha 203 and Asha 202.
