Samsung Set To Unveil Galaxy S II Plus at MWC, Photo of Galaxy S3 Leaked?

February 2nd, 2012 by Caroline

More rumours have been doing the rounds today, concerning what Samsung has in-store for us during this month’s MWC event in Barcelona.

Hopefully, you’ve recovered from your disappointment yesterday upon hearing that Samsung does not intend to unveil the long-awaited Galaxy S3 model at MWC – besides, this news was coupled with the tantalising prospect that the successor to the current Samsung Galaxy S smartphone could be within your grasp by June.

The guys over at PocketNow have also been in touch with Samsung, and the company has reassured them that there will be “exciting new mobile products” at MWC.

This certainly makes sense, as it’s unlikely the company has no plans for the big event – but which “mobile products” are in the offing?

One of thee upcoming devices is thought to be the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus, which was spotted on a benchmark database. This is not far-fetched in principle as Samsung has introduced Plus versions in the past, most notably with its original Galaxy S phone. Features of the S II Plus are expected to include Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread software, WVGA display, and 1.5GHz processor (increased from the S II’s 1.2GHz chip).

Intriguingly, Russian tech blogger Eldar Murtazin has added yet another rumour to the big pile of Galaxy S3 Rumours Pile, by publishing on Twitter a photo said to be of the smartphone Samsung has lined-up for MWC. This supposed leaked press shot shows the device with an Ice Cream Sandwich menu, strongly hinting that this new handset will launch with the latest version of Android – and suggesting it isn’t the S II Plus phone, too.

So, can this be the S3? And if it’s not, what other ICS-loaded Samsung can we look forward to making an appearance during MWC?
