April 17th, 2012 by Simon

But the UK is not one of them just yet. Sony has announced that owners of the Arc S, Neo V, and Xperia Ray will be now be able to update their phones to the latest version of Android if they live in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland or Iceland. Sony has not yet announced a date for the update in the UK but it should be within the coming weeks, as Sony had previously announced that the majority of its Xperia smartphones would see an update to ICS in “mid-April”.

The following Sony phones are expected to be updated to ICS at the end of May or start of June:

  • Xperia arc
  • Xperia PLAY
  • Xperia neo
  • Xperia mini
  • Xperia mini pro
  • Xperia pro
  • Xperia active
  • Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman

Sony has stated that the updates will roll out globally for the Arc S, Neo V and Ray during the next 4 to 6 weeks and that “the availability and scheduling of this software upgrade and specific models upgradeable to Android 4.0 will vary by market and carrier requirements.”

Sony will issue upgrade software kits for specific models and networks when the relevant updates become available. You can check here to see if your model/network is ready for the update: Talk.Sonymobile.com
