Blackberry Pearl 9100 deals on contract

Blackberry Pearl 9100 deals

Inheriting the expectations of a successful product can be a challenge. With the first Blackberry Pearl smartphone tucking in a successful market history, RIM takes on the challenge to update it with the Blackberry Pearl 9100 packed into a smaller and thinner body continuing the candybar tradition but with an updated touch-sensitive optical trackpad and the first Pearl’s SureType keyboard instead of full QWERTY.

It also retains the same excellent Blackberry OS and email client system tethered to the ultra-secure Blackberry internet service that companies have grown to love. There’s also the Blackberry App Store users can register to get all the apps they need, though only a few are free while most cost around £3 apiece. It’s rumored to be headed to Canada’s Telus and T-Mobile in the US with a not so gender-neutral body as it comes in black and pink colors.

Key Features

The Blackberry Pearl 9100 is a quad band GSM on 2G with class 10 GPRS/EDGE data speeds of up to 236.8 Kbps. It has a tri band UMTS radio on 3G with HSDPA at 3.5 Mbps for fast internet downloading and surfing. Hotspot surfing is supported with WiFi 802.11b/g. It also gets the usual data connectivity of options for Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP and microUSB 2.0 for wireless and wired data transfers, respectively.

It gets SatNav functionality with an integrated GPS receiver that supports A-GPS and gets preloaded with the Blackberry Maps. The imaging is average with a 3.2 megapixel resolution, autofocus and LED flash that is emerging to be the standard imaging for all Blackberry handsets.

It seems RIM has found a profit cash cow with the economies of scale afforded by a common engine across all its product lines. Multimedia is likewise pretty much standard with an MP3/WMA/AAC+ player and a video player for MP4 and 3GP video files. Its hardware gets a 3.5mm headphone jack for your high fidelity headsets and its A2DP profile support on Bluetooth enables you to use those stereo Bluetooth earphones for wireless stereo listening.

Internal phone memory gets a phonebook capacity that can accommodate nearly unlimited contact entries and call records and the RAM to supports the Blackberry OS to run at its best. MicroSD memory expansion is supported for up to 16 GB. It comes preloaded with an HTML browser, a document viewer for the common MS office files as well as PDF files and usual communications tools for IM, email client that only works with Blackberry’s internet service you need to subscribe to.
