Why compare with us?

The Dell Flash is an attention-grabbing smartphone, crafted out of a slice of “curved glass”. Whether this is entirely practical is unknown at this stage but it certainly makes for a modern and unique device. And still only 11mm thin. And with a 3.5 inch touch-sensitive screen.

Once you get past the fashionable exterior, you can enjoy the trendy interior. Features are expected to include a 5-megapixel camera with smile and blink detection; 512MB RAM and a Qualcomm MSM 7230 800MHz processor for keeping things swift and enabling multiple apps to be open at once; and an incredible memory of up to 64GB via a microSD card (provided these exist by the time the Flash hits the market!).

Among other capabilities is a TV-out feature for sharing your photos, videos and web pages on a bigger screen. This is a neat edition in a smartphone – especially considering the Flash is a mid-range device like the Smoke. Dell launched five handsets together with varying abilities – the remaining ones are the Lightning, Thunder and Aero. Four are Android-based smartphones and only the Lightning is a Windows Phone 7 phone.

According to Dell this is a mid-range handset but we just can’t classify the Dell Flash as a “mainstream” smartphone and we’re confident that once the full box of tricks is known about the internal workings of this phone that you’ll agree.

More details will be coming shortly – although don’t expect the Flash to be out until sometime in Q4 of this year.
