Why compare with us?

The Dell Thunder means business. It is a smartphone at the higher-end of the spectrum and will likely come with full media support.

Launched together with the other handsets in the Dell “storm” range – Lightning, Flash, Smoke and Aero – the Thunder is on a par with the Lightning in terms of capabilities. Both have a 4.1 inch AMOLED capacitive screen. This means all that the Thunder has to offer will be viewed on a large, vibrant and clear screen which lets you make the lightest touches to navigate and interact onscreen.

The phone has multi-touch support so zooming in on images will be a doddle. The internal processor is a Snapdragon 1GHz so the Thunder will race along unhindered and the unknown RAM is sure to be sufficient for multi-tasking, running various apps at once, without slowing the handset down.

And you will most probably need so much power under the surface as the Dell Thunder looks set to come with impressive features. Of those we know, there is the 8-megapixel camera, boosted even further by an array of features like LED flash, autofocus, face detection and video. There is Flash 10.1 inbuilt for watching web videos and a Hulu app also.

Running on the Android 2.1 platform, the Thunder has Google apps like Maps, Search and Gmail, YouTube and Picasa, inbuilt for all your social networking needs. And there will surely be access to sites like Facebook and Twitter. Messaging is via the Swype technology which means you simply run your finger between the letters you want instead of having to make individual presses.

The Thunder looks poised to be a real challenge to the high-end smartphones on the market, tackling devices like the iPhone and Google Nexus One with its multimedia features. We’ll bring you more details as soon as these are known.
