The HTC Explorer is a compact, affordable smartphone. Its 3.2 inch screen may appear modest, but it’s perfectly capable in every respect. YouTube support allows you to stream your favourite videos, and social network integration means Facebook’s never far from reach.
You can download any number of apps from the online Android Market, and stay connected via 3G or Wi-Fi. And with potential for 32GB of storage, you’ll never run out of room on the HTC Explorer. All in all, it performs well for a pocket-sized handset.
The Explorer is a pocket sized Android phone from HTC that is one of the first smartphones to make use of Sense 3.5. The Explorer is a lot smaller than many of HTC´s other recent offerings, such as the Sensation XE and Bass, as it comes with a more compact 3.2 inch screen. The screen offers a decent amount of quality although it does come with a lower colour depth and pixel resolution than higher end models.
Although it is a budget phone it runs on the latest Android Gingerbread and comes with Android Market and YouTube support, as well as some decent 3G and Wi-Fi connections. The Sense interface comes with excellent social network integration for Facebook and Twitter amongst others, as well as providing excellent email and instant messaging options. Sense 3.5 has had one of the biggest revamps that has been seen on the HTC interface for quite some time. Home screen buttons are now down the side of the phone and Sense has plenty of new widgets to play around with. Sense´s web browser has now also had a major redesign and offers one of the best web browsing experiences on a smartphone.
Although the screen is a little smaller than the ones found on top HTC models it is still great for entertainment features such as video, with good support for music and video available through the phone´s media players. The Explorer can support 32GB microSD cards so you can be provided with plenty of room to store personal media.
The Explorer also supports full HTML web browsing and supports Adobe Flash, so you can enjoy a good web browsing experience. As mentioned, the browser on the Explorer has had a big revamp providing it with one of the best web browsing experiences on a phone. As well as its web and entertainment features the Explorer comes with a 3 megapixel camera for basic photography needs. Video recording support is included and you can easily share pictures and videos online.
In terms of hardware and software features the HTC Explorer is very similar to the HTC Wildfire S which has proven to be a very popular phone. It offers some great messaging and entertainment features and also runs on a more modern interface than the Wildfire S smartphone, which should make it a very popular device in the affordable section of the Android smartphone market.
