Huawei Ideos X6 deals & review

The Huawei Ideos X6 was announced alongside the Ideos X5 and, while both are fantastic little Android phones, the Huawei Ideos X6 certainly has a few features that make it a more desirable phone. It has a slightly larger screen at 4.1" which places it as one of the more spacious touchscreens on the market, and this comes with over 16 million colours and high resolution of 480 x 800 for extra sharp picture quality. This features capacitive technology making the Huawei Ideos X6 very responsive and which allows for multitouch input.

The Huawei Ideos X6 also features a slightly speedier processor than the X5, 1GHz compared to the Ideos X5´s 800MHz. this combined with 512MB RAM makes the Huawei Ideos X6 a very smooth and seamless handset. Additional benefits include a secondary front facing VGA camera that is not available on the X5 and which, combined with 3G or Wi-Fi, allows for video calling.

The main camera is 5 megapixels with LED flash, autofocus and features such as geotagging. There is also 720p HD video recording available at 30fps. So far this is the same as the Ideos X5, but the X6 also comes with TV-Out at 720p via HDMI. This means that you can watch your amateurish home movies from the comfort of a larger TV screen, rather than getting everyone huddled around your phone.

Running on Android 2.2 (Froyo) the Huawei Ideos X6 comes with some fantastic messaging options included, such as threaded SMS, MMS, email and instant messaging. The Huawei Ideos X6 also comes with social networks such as Facebook and Twitter integrated into the interface so that you can more easily keep track of your contacts.

There is also plenty to keep you entertained on the Huawei Ideos X6 besides the brilliant camera. There is fantastic support for music and video, as well as streaming video from online providers thanks to Adobe Flash support. An FM radio with RDS is included which is another feature that is not available on the Ideos X5, and with 4GB of internal storage and up to 32GB of microSD cards supported you can be sure to have plenty of room for all your entertainment needs. Games are also supported on the Huawei Ideos X6 with many fantastic touchscreen titles available from Android Market.

The Huawei Ideos X6 and X5 are both fantastic Android handsets that have a very desirable price tag. Although the argument could be levelled against the X5 that it does not do anything that many other Android handsets can do, the Huawei Ideos X6 does come with a number of additional features such as 720p TV-out that certainly give a good reason to ponder the purchase of this particular phone. Regardless, the Huawei Ideos X6 is a superb Android handset that ticks all the right boxes and doesn´t really come with much that it could be criticised for.
