In a word or two
The LG GS200 is a straightforward and affordable music phone.
The Design
With a traditional candybar look, the LG GS200 is a compact mobile phone. The case is mainly black with some red highlights which complement the black nicely. You can tell from simply glancing at the GS200, that it has been designed with simplicity in mind – both inside and outside.
Beneath the 2.2 inch display screen is the large navigation button, which features a circular pad for commanding the direction you want to go in. On either side of this button are the keys for making/ending calls and for menu selections, together with the external speakers. The main numerical keypad is spaced well with a strip of red dividing the keys horizontally to allow for a more accurate press.
The LG GS200 weighs just 85g, making it ideal for holding in the palm of your hand as you use the mobile phone and for slipping into your pocket or handbag to carry with you.
Specifications
The LG GS200 has two main highlights – its music ability and its price. Like other low-entry mobile phones currently on the market including the LG GB160, Nokia 2220 Slide and Nokia 7230, the GS200 is an affordable handset. If music and cost are important elements of a mobile phone, you will enjoy the GS200.
The music player is supported by the decent external speaker, which plays tunes to a high volume and good sound effect. Using the USB connection, you can transfer your songs onto your mobile from your PC – and the internal memory can be expanded to up to 8GB via a microSD card so you should have plenty of space for your tracks.
There is a radio on the LG GS200 which lets you tune into your favourite local or national FM station. The radio features RDS so you can view information from the station along with listening, and the FM recording function means you can save songs or programmes onto your phone to listen to at a later date. For those moments when you want to listen privately, you can simply plug in your headphones into the phone’s 3.5mm audio jack and enjoy.
The LG GS200 comes with games pre-loaded to help you stave off boredom and the Java support means you can download extra ones too.
For communicating with friends and family on your LG GS200, you can choose between calling, texting, multimedia messaging and emailing. There is an inbuilt 1.3-megapixel camera on the GS200 for taking fun snaps, which you can then share. The Bluetooth connection means you can send photos to any friends who have Bluetooth on their mobiles.
Considerations
The LG GS200 is fundamentally a music phone and the other features are limited, for example, there is no 3G support.
Verdict
For a good music phone which is affordable, the LG GS200 meets your mobile communication needs.
