The LG Viewty GT is an ultra-light handset geared at providing great access to social networking for a fraction of the price of an iPhone.

With apps for Facebook, Yahoo, Skype and Windows Live Messenger, the Viewty GT is for those on a tight budget who don’t want to miss out on any of the social networking fun. With no wi-fi however, online access can be somewhat limited.

The Design

The latest addition to the LG Viewty range of mobile phones, the LG Viewty GT is slimmer than the LG Viewty Smile device and is housed in a more curved, modern frame.

Weighing just 98g, the LG Viewty GT is as light as it looks. And using the phone is simple with a 3 inch resistive screen and accompanying stylus for those tricky links or smaller images; an inbuilt accelerometer for automatically turning the screen to suit what you are viewing; and three keys along the bottom of the screen for launching and ending calls, and accessing the menu.

The LG Viewty GT has a smart, clean look and comes in a choice of silver grey or black.

Specifications

Also known as the LG GT405, the LG Viewty GT packs a decent punch for a low-cost handset. There are social networking capabilities onboard the phone including icons for Facebook, Windows Live Messenger, Skype, and Yahoo. There are two home screens to choose between, which you can customise – one is for all your icons and features like email and weather updates, and the second is for direct access to your contacts.

With the LG Viewty GT, you can stay in touch with friends and family easily and in various ways. The Skype app gives you access to free Skype-to-Skype calls and the IM clients let you message instantly. There is a web browser on the mobile for enjoying the internet, and the Google Search app enhances this experience. And of course, you can chat online on sites like Facebook and Twitter – as well as upload images and videos taken on the Viewty GT’s 5-megapixel camera.

There is photo editor software on the LG Viewty GT so you can “brush up” any photos you take. The Bluetooth, microUSB and 3G support means you can share pictures easily too – and if you want to keep them, you can expand the internal memory up to 8GB via a microSD card or transfer them to your PC.

Considerations

There is no Wi-Fi support on the LG Viewty GT.

Verdict

The LG Viewty GT is a stylish, pocketable and affordable mobile phone with some good social networking features twinned with a good camera, music player and FM radio.
