Motorola PRO+ deals & review

The Motorola Pro+ is an updated version of Motorola´s previous QWERTY messaging phone the Motorola Pro. As well as some hardware and software updates the phone has also had a bit of a physical makeover too. While offering the same overall physical dimensions as the original the Pro+ is more curved than the square shaped Motorola Pro.

The Pro+ features the same portrait oriented 3.1 inch screen as the original. While this yet again offers multitouch capacitive input and 16 million colours it also features a much sharper VGA resolution. The screen is coated with Gorilla Glass for extra protection and right beneath it is a QWERTY keypad that is ideal for messaging and emails.

While it is still powered by a 1GHz processor the Pro+ now comes with an updated Android Gingerbread operating system (the previous Motorola Pro ran on Froyo). This includes a Motorola designed interface and Motoblur, a social networking tool that can pool different social networks such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as emails and SMS messages and store them in one easy to manage location.

To complement the online messaging features the Pro+ comes with decent connectivity via 3G and Wi-Fi, with DLNA support included with the latter. DLNA can allow you to connect the Pro+ with other wireless devices to share music, videos and images. Web browsing is a great joy with this phone too, and pages can be navigated either via the screen or keyboard.

A 5 megapixel camera is included which comes with a dual LED flash and video recording support. Images and videos can be shared with services online including Facebook, and the Pro+ comes with good online entertainment with YouTube installed out of the box. Offline entertainment is also provided by an excellent of support for a wide range of popular music and video formats. The phone includes 4GB internal memory with a further 32GB available with microSD cards. The Pro+ also has access to Android Market so that you can customise the phone with themes, wallpapers, apps and games.

The original Motorola Pro was an excellent Android messaging phone in the same vein as many BlackBerry handsets and proved highly popular with social networkers and professionals alike. The Pro+ offers the same sort of experience. It has a slightly more curvaceous design but offers a very similar experience. Improvements have been made with regards to the operating system and the new Pro+ offers a superior level of detail with its screen.
