Nokia 1800 deals on contract

Nokia 1800 deals

Back to basics mobiles phones comprise many of the entry level budget phones in the market sporting the conventional candybar form factor. With all the sophisticated cutting edge touchscreens, sliders and QWERTY sliders out there, it’s good to know the giants like Nokia have not forgotten a market that looks at mobile phones as anything other than a basic phone on the road.

Here is where the likes of the Nokia 1800 excel and can appeal to these markets and can be your best option for providing you kids with one. Very few basic handsets could be more basic than this one. Anything more basic will need to have a monochromatic 3 line LED display and nothing else.

Back to Basics Features

While many so-called entry level phones actually sport a more rudimentary set of features the still house many of the frills the market has come to take for granted on handsets, the 1800 does more by simply taking most of them out and gives you a handset that is basically a throwback almost to the days when mobile phones started.

It has no pretensions to anything other than to fulfill the tasks it was meant to do in the first place – provide mobile telephony services. It forgoes the imaging features and even the MP3 playback we’ve come to expect from even the cheapest mobile phones for the 21st century.

You probably can’t go anymore basic than a dual band GSM (900/1800) so you can forget about using it for international roaming. It gets no data connectivity options whatsoever. You get a 1.8-inch TFT LCD display with QCIF (128 x 160) resolution and 65k colors reminiscent of the second generation color display mobile phones though a notch better.

There’s no camera on the Nokia 1800 but entertainment on the road can still be enjoyed wit its monaural FM radio by listening through its speakerphones. You still get interchangeable body covers of silver grey, black, orchid red and ash blue colors.

It has a flashlight feature and gets preloaded with a few basic games, a voice memo capability, the usual organizer and configuration tools, phonebook for up to 500 contact entries and call records for up to 20 dialed, 20 received and 20 missed calls.

Texting gets aided with the usual T9 predictive text facility but there’s no MMS facility. Its 800 mAh li-ion battery (BL-5CB) delivers up to 8.5 hours of talk time and 538 hours of standby time.
