Nokia 2220 Slide deals

The slightly more sophisticated 2000 series of the Nokia product stable gets a new slider in the Nokia 2220 Slide which, with its body color options in graphite, hot pink, turquoise, purple, blue and warm silver, betrays a pitch to the younger segments of its markets with eyes towards getting more a personalized slider at affordable entry level prices.

With a compact slider body measuring 97.4 x 47 x 15.9 mm and weighing just 93.5g, the 2220 Slide gives Nokia an edge in the low end slider markets often dominated by more stylish Korean sliders.

Bare Plus Features

While not a bare as its 1000 line of handsets, the 2220 slide gets a basic dual band GSM (900/1800) on 2G with a US version in the 850/1900 band. It gets data connectivity support for class 10 GPRS at 48 Kbps and up to 236.8 Kbps on EDGE on the 2.G/2.5G network. There’s no WiFi and no local data connectivity support as well so you can’t do any kind of data syncing or transfers with other handsets of laptops.

The display also gets a very rudimentary 1.8” TFT LCD screen with QCIF (123 x 160) resolution and 65k color support. There’s a basic VGA camera with no video recording but you can get low resolution low file sized images that can easily be sent via MMS.

Onboard memory gets capped at a decent 32 MB with phonebook capacity up to 1,000 contact entries. There’s no microSD support so your multimedia file content is limited to the phone memory leaving you with just a handful of mp3 files to listen to. With an 860 mAh li-ion batter (BL-4C), you can get up to 5 hours and 20 mins of talk time and 480 hours of standby time on a single charge. SAR EU rating is 0.39 watts per kilogram.

The Nokia 2220 Slide is preloaded with a WAP 2.0 HTML web browser so if you plan to surf on a screen that present a real challenge to the eye, be sure to get a GPRS/EDGE data plan. There’s also XpressAudio messaging, an organizer, voice memo and email client support preloaded into the phone.
