Needless to say, it also gets unlimited 18-month access to the Nokia Music Store. Other than that, the 5235 carries the same top notch smartphone versatility of the 5230.
Basic Features
The 5235 is a smartphone powered by a 434 MHz ARM 11 engine running the Symbian S60 5th edition platform. It’s a quad band GSM with class 32 GPRS/EDGE on 2G and a dual band UMTS on 3G with HSDPA data connectivity at 3.6 Mbps. There’s no WiFi but you get local high speed data connectivity with Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR and Micro USB 2.0.
It’s preloaded with Mail for Exchange and Ovi Mail, a WAP 2.0 HTML browser with Flash Lite 3.0 and RSS feeds support, a document viewer for MS Office files and SNS integration and live updates with Facebook, MySpace, Ovi and YouTube.

Music Phone Features
Music playback is king in the 5235 with a stereo FM radio with RDS and comes with Nokia signature audio player for files in the MP3/WMA/WAV/RA/AAC/M4A file formats which you can enjoy listening on its 3.5mm audio jack or wirelessly over Bluetooth A2DP support for a continuous playback time of 33 hours when fully charged.
The audio can be enhanced with loudness boost, bass boost, an equalizer and stereo widening effect. Video playback is also supported for video files in the WMV/RV/MP4/3GP formats and you can have up to 4.6 hours of video playback time on a single charge.
There’s a decent 320 MB onboard memory but that won’t get far for multimedia files so a hot swappable microSD card of up to 16 GB is supported.
Display and Imaging features
It sports a 3.2 inch LCD TFT resistive touchscreen display with 360 x 640 resolution and 16 million colors. It has an accelerometer for double tap controls and auto rotate viewing, an ambient light sensor for brightness auto-adjust and a proximity sensor for automatic disabling of touchscreen sensitivity in a call.
Both the 5230 and the 5235 share the same outdated 2 megapixel fixed focus camera with 3x digital zoom VGA video recording at 30fps. It’s plain to see where Nokia cut corners to make the 5235 affordable.
