Why compare with us?

The Nokia 6301 is a great business targeted phone from Nokia which offers all the latest communication features in a stylish and sleek looking phone. The Nokia 6301 has a great feature of UMA technology which is basically free phone calls over internet and Bluetooth. This feature makes it ideal for business use if you use your mobile in the office or at home a lot. The phone also has a 2 mega pixel camera with 8x digital zoom and a stereo player and FM radio which is good for winding down on the journey home if you get the train or bus to and from work.

Specifications

The music and multimedia features of this phone are quite good and include an MP3 player and FM radio as well as video 3GPP streaming which mean you can watch the news or entertainment on your mobile. The media player can handle formats of MP3, AAC and eAAC as well as WMA files. The media options of Java and games are available too and you can try your hand at snake 3 which is pre loaded. You can also browse the web easily because the Nokia 6301 has a browser which can read xhtml which is the leading website coding language. The internet speed is good as well thanks to EDGE technology which means you have broadband on your mobile basically.

The 6301 also has Bluetooth capabilities and a USB cable and port so that you can transfer files to and from your PC and phone. You can personalise this phone quite a bit as well with wallpapers, screensavers and mp3 and polyphonic ringtones. You can also send MMS messages as well as the standard SMS and there is an instant messaging application as well so you can keep in touch with ease. The Nokia 6301 has a standalone memory of about 30 MB and you can upgrade to 4GB if you want to, using the micro SD card slot.

The battery life of the phone is also pretty good offering up to 14 days of stand by time and 3.5 hours talk time. There are also some good personal information management features including a calendar, alarm clock, to do lists, notes and a countdown timer. The phone’s overall features are good but nothing too high tech except the UMA technology which means you can make phone calls in your office or at home using UMA technology and therefore the calls are free via Bluetooth or WiFi connections.

Looks

In terms of looks, the Nokia 6301 is pretty good looking with a stylish and sleek design. The 6301 available in one colour which is monoblack with steel aluminium front and back. The 6301 itself weighs about 93 grams and measures in at 106.8mm x 43.8mm x 13.1mm so isn’t too bulky either. You could use this phone for business or personal use and still look very sophisticated and stylish. The sleek design of the Nokia 6301 matches the sleek and simple features of the Nokia 6301 inside which means it’ll all look great when in use.

You can change the look of the interior of the Nokia 6301 using themes and wallpapers as well as screensavers so you could have it looking pretty nice if you like or just simple and Nokia specific. This phone is a good looking phone and offers a sleek and sophisticated design to the eye. You can expect some compliments because it is a stylish phone. It’s nothing over the top and it doesn’t scream technology but I guess it doesn’t have to because it is an ordinary business or personal phone with a few high tech features available for use on it. It’s nothing great but it’s pretty nice looking if you ask me.

Design

The design on the outside matches the design of the software on the inside. The operating system is a 3rd Edition Series 40 user interface which is easy to use and simple. The applications are also not over complicated but they do offer a sleek look to them. The Nokia 6301 is a good looking and well designed phone and its features seem to flow very well. The 6301 itself has a good design and a sleek look and feel to it. You can expect compliments, although not too many because it isn’t as sophisticated or stylish and some other phones on the market.

Overall

All in all, it’s a great phone – not too much but not too little either. It has everything you could need to use this phone as a personal or basic business phone and it does perform well with basic tasks such as messaging and phone calls. The UMA technology is something that is quite unknown in the mobile phone world and it’s nice to see a basic phone with a great feature like that on it. UMA technology is relatively new in terms of being available on mobile phones but it is a well worth having feature. You can make free phone calls from your office or at home using either a Bluetooth or WiFi connection which can come in handy if you use your phone for work.

The Nokia 6301 is a good design and has a stylish look and feel but again, I feel like the features are lacking something. There are features for everything you’d need but there is nothing too special about it. It is a good phone, don’t get me wrong, but it isn’t all that when you compare the new Nokia business and entertainment phones to it. Although, having said that I guess there does have to be phones available for the middle range so I guess this phone fits that bill.

Looks and design are good and the features are also good so overall it’s a great phone. May be a bit boring for some people but if you’re looking for simplicity then this phone will be great for you. Plus, it’s also a good phone for a first time user because it isn’t over complicated and is easy to use. It’ll give you a good start in the technological world of mobile phones and will help you learn the basics before you move onto a more sophisticated and technology based phone.
